As the days pass and the news continues to talk about the vast devastation in Nepal the continual question I get is are you still going? It's a natural question, but one that's never entered my mind. See when I first told AIM I was interested in the trip to Nepal, I wasn't even really sure why I was interested other than I felt it's where I should go. At that time few people I told could exactly identify Nepal on a map. I prayed about going to India and even tried to sign up, but I was told I missed the last slot by a matter of minutes.
For anyone who does not believe in God and his direction for your life these probably all seem like a normal coincidence. However, I knew when the door to India was closed that God had some kind of plan for me in Nepal. A few months later I now understand fully why the time is right for me to go to Nepal.
With that said, I know that God will be with me on the journey. Like in the story of Jonah, the most dangerous place on earth you can be is not being where God wants you. The safest place is doing His will.
People have asked will you be safe. Safe is relative and unpredictable. We can obviously take precautions and not put ourselves in undue danger, however we never know what a day holds whether we are in Kathmandu or Atlanta. I ask for your prayers for the group that our efforts will not be hampered by undue stress or uncontrollable events. I pray for the safety of our team as we work with relief efforts. Most of all, I trust in a God that knows the future.
